kolla-build --list-dependencies uses pprint, which prints almost-but-not-quite json. This makes it hard for other tools to parse its output. This change switches to a json output with an indent of 2. Logging to the console would traditionally go to stderr so that stdout can be parsed by other tools for structured output. Because logging currently goes to stdout, it is difficult to parse the outputs of the following: kolla-build --format json kolla-build --list-images kolla-build --list-dependencies This change logs to stderr instead. You should NEVER install library packages as 99.99% time is not what you really need. NEVER! What was happening? During build of 'pyzmq' it was noticing that there are no development headers for libzmq and after 10s delay (with huge warning attached) it was starting to build own 'bundled' copy of libzmq. In old implementation, version-check always get the latest versions rather than versions for certain release. it is useless for stable branch. And it parses from tarballs.openstack.org site, which is very slow. In this new implementation, version-check gets versions from openstack/releases repo, which is faster and accurate. It also support get versions for certain OpenStack release.
